Who is Grannymave you ask? Grannymave is Mavis Paterson who is biking across Canada, with her friend Penny Weir, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
On Friday, June 20th while we were having coffee at Kathy’s Place, our town cafe here in Pangman, Mavis stopped in to have breakfast. Apparently Mavis is biking across Canada, with her friend Penny Weir, to celebrate her 70th birthday and also to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. She is from Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. Unfortuantely, her friend Penny had to be flown back to Scotland due to health problems, but she was hoping to meet back up with her soon so they could continue their trip across Canada together.
Mavis told us about the Good Samaritan near Eastend who invited her to her home and let her stay overnight. About the stay at the Hotel in Cadillac where someone told her the story of the “Phantom Horseman”. She also asked us about The Red Coat Trail (Highway 13), which she had been biking on. You can read about her visit in Pangman here on her Blog. And, you can find more information about The Red Coat Trail at Saskatchewan Tourisim and at Wikepedia.
You can read all about Grannymave’s trip on her blog and also find more information about it at her website.
Happy Canada Day!!
